A Proposed Vision for Developing the Contents of the Book of Physics -Secondary School- in the Republic of Yemen Using Sustainable Development Dimensions

Abstract

This research aims at preparing a proposed vision for developing the content of secondary school books of Physics using sustainable development dimensions in the Republic of Yemen. The researchers have used the descriptive and analytical methods during the analysis stage, while during the development stage, the structural method has been used. To achieve the aims of this research, a list of the sustainable development dimensions that should be available within the content of the secondary school books of Physics. This list contains sixty three sub-dimensions distributed to five primary dimensions which are; the economic dimension, the social dimension, the environmental dimension, the technological dimension, the political and security dimension. After proving their validity and invariability, these dimensions have been transformed into an analysis form which has been used to analyze the content of the secondary school books of Physics. The result of the research shows that including the sustainable development dimensions in the content of those books is very low and cannot reach an educational acceptable percentage.

     Based on the result of this research, a vision has been proposed to enrich the content of the books of Physics using the sustainable development dimensions. Suggestions and recommendations have been made in this regard.
