Abstract

This current study aims to find out to what extent teaching staff member practice ethics of teaching from students' point of view at Turba Branch, Taiz University.

     The study community consisted of 632 students, 237 males and 395 females who are students of the 4th level in all faculties, in 11 different majors in the academic year 2018/2019. A random sample of 164 students was selected out of the 632 students using cluster random method with a 26% from each major. The sample consisted of 56 males and 108 females from Faculty of Computers and Info. Technology, Faculty of Management and Info. Systems, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, and Faculty of Education, Science and Arts. The sample excluded the new majors which do not have students in the level four.

     The researcher used a questionnaire to measure the responses of students. It consisted of 63 items distributed to three fields. The first field consisted of 18 items, the second, of 30 item, and the third, of 15 items. The level of response ranges high, moderate, low, absent according to a quadrilateral standard.

     The results of the study showed the following:

  • The extent to which teaching staff member practice the ethics of teaching from students' viewpoint at Turba Branch, Taiz University is at low level for the three fields with total median, 2.247.
  • There are no statistically significant differences in the extent to which teaching staff member practice the ethics of teaching from students' viewpoint according to major variable and sex variable.

The researcher has made some recommendations and suggestions.
