Abstract

This research aimed to determine the level of inclusion of basic scientific process skills in science text books for the basic stage in the Republic of Yemen. and to answer the research question's the researcher built a list to analyze the skills of basic scientific process, the final analysis list consisted of (40) indicators distributed in (8) fields representing the skills of scientific process. The list used in Analyze the science text books for the basic stage. And the research sample consisted of (16) books for all grades of the basic stage.

     The most important results of the research were as follows:

  • science textbooks for the basic stage as a whole, as well as science textbooks for the third and second episodes include the eight skills of basic scientific process, while the science textbooks for the first episode included only seven skills, and did not included Measuring skill.
  • science textbooks for the basic stage as a whole, and science textbooks for each of the three stages focusing on four skills the percentages were high, these are; communication, observation, prediction and induction, but the percentages of inclusion; Using Numbers, Using Space-Time Relationship, classification and Measuring was low.
  • the induction skill was the highest skill include in the science textbooks for the basic stage as a whole, and in science textbooks for the third episode and science textbooks for the first episode, while the communication skill was the most included in the text books of the second episode.
