Abstract

This research aimed to study a selected text from the Maqamat of Badi al-Zaman al-Hamthani, to explore how these texts are constructed, exposing the aspects of the influence of the orality in the Al Hamthani's Maqamat, extrapolating the written elements in the Al Hamthani's Maqamat and trying to reach a conclusion about the orality of these Maqamat from their literacy. In addition to studying the difference in the method of constructing the texts of Al-Hamthani's Maqamat. The study was based on the textual analysis approach, which is based on extrapolating the oral and written elements from the texts of Al-Hamthani's Maqamat, then presenting and analyzing each element.

The study reached many results, the most important of which are:

There are texts have been constructed orally; because of the domination of the oral elements. Also, there are texts have been constructed in a written manner; because of the written elements appeared in them. The site of the Maqamat is between the arts of Arab prose from the orality and literacy perspective. We mentioned that the Maqamat is located in the middle location between the arts of Arab prose; because of its nature and the job it has been created for.
