Saudi Traditional Crafts as an artistic creativity source in the Contemporary painting

Abstract

The aim of this research is to highlight the Saudi Traditional Crafts, its aesthetic values and how to integrate it with arts to produce artworks that rely on using the traditional crafts and to present it artistically in a contemporary way to enhance the artistic creativity as well increasing the interest toward the national heritage in the art students in both exploratory and experimentally ways to contribute in heritage preservation which is one of the props of the of Saudi vision (2030).

 

     The research results emphasize on the importance of the caring that should be given to the Saudi traditional crafts in the arts field and to present it authentically in contemporary way by using the traditional crafts as an essential part in composing artworks which did help the art students to be creative in their works and have aesthetic depths, expressive and Intellectual content. Also, the study results assert that the integrations between the visual arts and the traditional crafts will contribute to preserve, support and develop it and stimulate the Saudi artistic movement. The study recommends the private sector to embrace initiatives that combine crafts with art and holding workshops that gather both artists and craftsmen to produce mixed pieces of artworks, that utilizes the aesthetic values of the crafts which are represented in their colors, decorations and different textures and to display the artworks in the specialized exhibitions.
