Research title: Imam Al-Bukhari’s Views on the Imamate: A Dogmatic Study
Abstract
Research Plan: The plan consists of an introduction, four sections, a conclusion and indexes.
Research Topic: The topic is about Imam Al-Bukhari’s views on the Imamate (Ruling a state) through his sayings or his citations to verses and hadiths in his Sahih.
The significance of the topic: Knowing the views of Imam Al-Bukhari on the importance of the Imamate and the duties and rights of the Imam and the duties of the people towards the Imam.
Research method: The inductive method is research method of this study.
Most notable results are:
1- Al-Bukhari referred to the meaning and importance of the Imamate, and mentioned many of its rulings in his Sahih, especially in the Book of Rulings.
2- Al-Bukhari mentioned some of the conditions for choosing the Imam: such as justice, not following desires of the souls, knowledge, virtue, trustworthiness, and Quraishism.
3- Al-Bukhari explained that the duties of the imam are: adherence to the Islamic law, the establishment of the rituals of religion, the preservation of money, justice, the preservation of rights, the protection of the country and the establishment of jihad.
4- Al-Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, explained that the rights of the imam are: the pledge of allegiance to him, the obligation to obey him, pray behind him, fight with him, and not break his pledge of allegiance or rebel against him, and that he has many financial and political actions.
5- Al-Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, mentioned that the duties of the people towards the imam: the obligation to be patient with him, advise him, enjoin good and forbid evil.
6- Al-Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, indicated that if the Muslims do not have an Imam or unanimity: that a Muslim must abstain from all sects and be patient with hardship until he meets God Almighty.
Most prominent recommendations are:
- Taking care of the opinions of the predecessor scholars who overcame many of the conflicts and opinions that occurred.
Presenting the points of view of the religion in all matters of life to be a source of inspiration for those who want to consider it a constitution and take it as a model in life.
