Positive Effects of Media Speech in Saudi society The Coronavirus (COVID-19) Crisis as a Model

Abstract

The objective of the current research is to identify the positive effects of media discourse (media and social media) in the face of the emerging crisis of the Corona virus (Covid-19) from the point of view of members of Saudi society, with regard to life domains (psychological, personal, social, family, economic), and awareness in Domains (health, behavioral practices, beliefs and ideas), and identifying the most media outlets that community members were keen to follow during the crisis, the most effective in spreading the media message, and the most contributing to alleviating the impact of the virus and its negative repercussions.

 

     The research sample consisted of 529 Saudis and residents of different age groups and educational levels of both sexes. A questionnaire was applied to the positive effects of the media discourse (prepared by: researchers), and using appropriate statistical methods, the research reached many results, the most important of which is, “The Ministry of Health website, meetings and events The media and satellite channels” were among the media that members of the Saudi society were keen to follow, as well as “Twitter and WhatsApp” had the largest percentage of follow-up by members of society, while “the hashtag and the activities of the Ministry of Health” had the greatest role in spreading health messages, and confirmed the results of Research on the high positive effects of media discourse on the life and awareness aspects related to the coronavirus (Covid-19), and that males are higher than females in evaluating the positive effects of media discourse, and that younger and older individuals benefit the most from media discourse, while those with lower scientific levels Of the university students, they are the least benefited in the personal and psychological aspects, and they are the highest in terms of awareness of behavioral practices. There are a number of recommendations and suggestions, according to the results of the research
